As a gift for Ilona’s baby shower, I wrote and illustrated a book with the refrain ‘baby Bito, always know/ your mama is a true superhero.’ Over the past year her students have witnessed her strength during her pregnancy, delighted at her new-born strapped to her chest, and now marvel at this new individual testing her lungs and limbs. Creation is a superpower.

A family I love is going through a challenging time. In an effort to show love and support, I wrote and illustrated a book with the refrain ‘Always know you are a true superhero.’ I featured each member of the family to celebrate their unique qualities. I also sewed a reading quilt that doubles as a cape.
