I am Allison Sylvia.
I create multimedia art and write poetry.

I am a Brooklyn-based artist and poet. I am interested in the intersections of poetry, art and performance. I create costumes and paintings for the sake of a single show and as my work unfolds, I find a rhythm to the words each canvas speaks.
VISUAL ART
My art is meant to be interacted with - what began as illustrated chapbooks left on park benches and in subways, developed into full-scale paintings and costume design. My work is multimedia - I play with collage, fabric, origami, crocheted and crystal elements. They are building to a poem.
PERFORMANCE
I started performing my poetry in public spaces and at open mics in 2012. I have performed for Artists Without Walls, Inspired Word and at Electric Forest, House of Yes, The Backroom and other NYC venues for the Poetry Brothel.
MOVEMENT
I am a trained yoga teacher and teach both adults and children in creative ways that allow them to tap into breath and body. I have practiced Qi Gong for the past 5 years and love to share the subtle side of energy work.
Who I Am
I work to create art that is accessible for all. As I grow and develop as an artist, I collaborate and engage my community with humility and respect.
